Looking for insurance for my hut at Carbeth, & was just wondering if this is something other hutters have looked into & could recommend insurers? Many thanks
I am glad you've shared knowledge about this hut insurance here. I work for https://topcvwritersuk.com/cvpilots-review/ company, and this is the content I wanted to see. I will educate my mates about this now.
I am looking for information related to independent insurance agencies for sale as I don’t know what is it. Can anyone explain to me about it, what does it do and how does it work. Looking for detailed information.
I've not tried any of the others recommended (above) so far, but did request a quote from loveyourhut, it had to be referred to the underwriters who said that it was not something they could cover. Interesting discussion with them though, as when I was asked how big the hut was, I said approx 24 square meters...there followed much confusion and several phone calls in order to determine why my "hut" measured 24x24 i.e. 500+m2...I think they thought it was an agricultural building! Once I explained what a square meter was they got their head around it though !
Yes it's an interesting question - would be great to hear from others in hut sites or with remote huts. The various insurers I've heard of who consider insuring huts (this is not a recommendation, just a note of those I've heard of), include LoveYourHut.com, Naturesave, Brightside, NFU
From an underwriter's point of view, though, it is a question of spreading the risk. One isolated hut miles from anywhere might mean one claim for one hut. A big fire or a spate of thefts or a flood at a big site would mean lots of claims.
This is something I have been thinking about. Carbeth with many huts means that there will always be eyes on the ground noticing anything untoward happening. What about insurance for isolated huts, those in the middle of nowhere and with just one or two huts. Has anyone managed to get insurance and what conditions / excesses have been required.
got it sorted through, Brightside Insurance Torquay, a couple of conditions, such as getting our chimney professionally cleaned once a year & installing a couple of fire extinguishers 🧯 which isn’t a bad idea 🙂
